The college mainly trains full-time undergraduates, masters and doctoral students in the first-level disciplines of materials science and engineering, and also has a post-doctoral mobile station. Up till the present moment,the college has one first-level discipline: materials science and engineering; three second-level disciplines: materials science, materials physical chemistry, and materials processing engineering.

        During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period, 36 faculty members were formed, including 1 academician, 24 professors, 8 associate professors, and 4 assistant professors.

Since its establishment, the college has won 1 first prize of machinery industry science and technology, 1 second prize of machinery industry science and technology, and 1 third prize of Heilongjiang Province Science and Technology Progress Award. The Shenzhen Flexible Transparent Conductive Film Material Engineering Laboratory, the Shenzhen Supercapacitor Material Engineering Laboratory, the Shenzhen Perovskite Micro-Optical Device Engineering Laboratory, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Key Laboratory of Advanced Structure-Functional Integration Materials and Green Manufacturing Technology have been established.

Subject research direction: electronic packaging materials and device processing, quantum materials and quantum devices, biological intelligent materials, special materials and additive manufacturing, material genetic engineering and its applications, micro/nano photoelectric device, new energy materials and devices.
